I am from Houston, Texas. After attending San Jacinto Community College near my hometown, I transferred to Lamar University. While attending Lamar University, I majored in Graphic Design. I spent a year and a half gaining skills, learning methods and techniques used in effective graphic communication before applying to the School of Journalism at Texas State University.
Taking courses in web design, social media and analytics, and visuals storytelling helped persuade me to receive my degree in Digital Media Innovation. Becoming a DMI major, I’ve become proficient in using Adobe XD, Lightroom, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Illustrator, InDesign, visual storytelling, social media analytics, HTML, and CSS.
In 2017, I took on an internship at KTSW 89.9 in the Multimedia department as a photographer. In this position I produced visual content seen on all of their social media platforms. This position allowed me to network with professional and upcoming brands. My pictures has gotten me recognized as the ‘star of the month’ twice I was also a part of the social media team where I showcased and highlighted what KTSW is from music and artists. While juggling school and work, I have maintained to stay on the Deans list three times.
